Bangladesh Inflation Rate Highest Since 2017
The annual inflation rate in Bangladesh edged up to 6.05 percent in November of 2019 from 5.47 percent in the prior month. It was the highest inflation rate since September 2017, as both food (6.41 percent vs 5.49 percent in October) and non-food products (5.47 percent vs 5.45 percent) prices advanced faster. The inflation rates for rural and urban areas were 6.01 percent and 6.12 percent, compared with October's figures of 5.36 percent and 5.67 percent respectively. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.11 percent, following a 0.51 percent in the previous month.

Bangladesh Inflation Rate Slows to 6-Month Low
Bangladesh inflation rate eased to 5.47 percent in October of 2019 from 5.54 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation since February, as non-food products cost slowed (5.45 percent vs 5.92 percent in September). In contrast, food prices advanced faster (5.49 percent vs 5.30 percent). The inflation rates for rural and urban areas were 5.36 percent and 5.67 percent, compared with September's figures of 5.41 percent and 5.80 percent respectively. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.51 percent, following a 1.85 percent in the previous month.

Bangladesh Inflation Rate Edges Up in September
The annual inflation rate in Bangladesh increased to 5.54 percent in September of 2019 from 5.49 percent in the prior month, as cost advanced faster for both food (5.30 percent vs 5.27 percent in August) and non-food products (5.92 percent vs 5.82 percent). The inflation rates for rural and urban areas were 5.41 percent and 5.80 percent, compared with August's figures of 5.34 percent and 5.75 percent respectively. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.85 percent, following a 1.24 percent in the previous month.

Bangladesh Inflation Rate Slows in August
The consumer price inflation rate in Bangladesh eased to 5.49 percent year-on-year in August 2019 from 5.62 percent in the previous month, as prices rose at a softer pace for both food (5.27 percent vs 5.42 percent) and non-food products (5.82 percent vs 5.94 percent). The inflation rates for rural and urban areas were 5.34 percent and 5.75 percent, compared with July's figures of 5.49 percent and 5.88 percent respectively.

Bangladesh Inflation Rate Edges Up in July
The annual inflation rate in Bangladesh increased to 5.62 percent in July 2019 from 5.52 percent in the prior month. Prices of both food (5.42 percent vs 5.40 percent in June) and non-food products (5.94 percent vs 5.71 percent) advanced faster. Regarding non-food items, cost increased for rent, housing & lighting (6.15 percent vs 4.82 percent) and clothing & footwear (6.06 percent vs 5.94 percent). In contrast, price went up at a softer pace for transport & communication (7.35 percent vs 7.48 percent); recreation & culture (2.20 percent vs 2.24 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (6.33 percent vs 8.29 percent) and health (2.89 percent vs 2.93 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 1.25 percent, following a 0.31 percent rise in June.

Bangladesh inflation rate eased to 5.52 percent in June of 2019 from 5.63 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation since February, as prices of both food (5.40 percent vs 5.49 percent in May) and non-food products (5.71 percent vs 5.84 percent) went up at a softer pace. Regarding non-food items, cost slowed for clothing & footwear (5.94 percent vs 9.60 percent); transport & communication (7.48 percent vs 8.72 percent) and recreation & culture (2.24 percent vs 2.25 percent). In contrast, price advanced faster for rent, fuel & lighting (4.82 percent vs 4.24 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (8.29 percent vs 6.52 percent) and health (2.93 percent vs 2.39). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.31 percent, rebounding from a 1.18 percent drop in May.
